Both, Rincon de la Vieja and Santa Rosa National Park are part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area (ACG), Patrimony Site of Humanity (UNESCO). They are part of the biogeographical block that represents approximately 2% of Costa Rica and 13% of Guanacaste. They have approximately 335,000 species of land organisms, which is equivalent to 2.6% of the world’s total biodiversity; on these Costa Rica National Parks there are more land species than the sum of all the species found on the north of Mexico, United States and Canada.
