Activities
Buena Vista's School is located 10 minutes from the hotel. Currently it is part of the Ecological Blue Flag Program that is developed by the Ministry of Public Education.
Some of the commitments acquired by the School are:
1. Maintenance of pipes and water tanks.
2. Installation of washbasins.
3. Improvements in infrastructure.
4. Environmental education.
5. Extinguishers, first-aid kits.
If you would like to help these children so they can achieve a comprehensive education you can write to Carolina Ocampo the person in charge of sustainability to the following email: cocampo@buenavistalodgecr.com or if you will like to visit the School to carry out any type of volunteer work you can write to the following email: gestionambiental@buenavistalodgecr.com and Medardo Moscoso will organize the activity and offer you information about the current school projects.

| 14 January | National Civic Parties in Santa Cruz. | Santo Cristo of Esquipulas, who is the Patron Saint of Santa Cruz, is honored. Outdoor dances, crafts sale, concerts and, competition of Marimbas take place. Also these parties are famous for their bullfights and bull riding where great amount of people enter the bullring in the main square to challenge the bulls. |
| March-April | Holy Week | You can enjoy the traditional religious processions, throughout the province of Guanacaste. |
| April (April 11th) | Juan Santamaría's Day | Celebrations throughout the week with student's parade, concerts and, dances. |
| July (July 25th) | Annexation of the party of Nicoya to Costa Rica | Concerts, bull riding, cultural activities, crafts, typical foods, and horse parades. These activities take place mainly in Liberia where one of the most important parties in the country is celebrated. |
| September (September 15th) | Costa Rica's Independence | On September 13th the torch that the students carry arrives from Nicaragua. Then on the 14th the Lantern Parade takes place and on the 15th the student's parade celebrates Costa Rica's Independence. |
| December | December 12th: La Yegüita Party, in Nicoya. | Processions, bull riding, fireworks, and, concerts. |
